“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” — Alex Haley
There’s something so special about the bond between a grandparent and a grandchild – a love like no other! Whether near or far, by birth or by choice, grandmas and grandpas mean the world to our kids.
And for all they give to us, September 13th – Grandparents Day - is a day all about them!
This Grandparents Day may look a little different with social distancing still in place and traveling more difficult, but we’re sharing some ideas to recognize and say thank you to these special family members (2020 style!):
❤️ Take updated photos of your kids and have them help you put together a photo album (digital or physical!). If you have lots of snapshots from these months of social distancing and quarantine, have your kids create a storybook of what they’ve been up to with the photos. This may even serve as sort of time capsule for them in the future looking back on this strange year.
❤️ Plan a virtual lunch date, movie date, game night, or some other fun activity for your children and their grandparents. For plenty of digital game ideas, be sure to check out our FREE Printable Games download.
❤️ If your grandparents are close by and you feel comfortable, get together for an outdoor picnic in the backyard.
❤️ Put a future vacation on the calendar that includes the grandparents. It will give everyone something to look forward to!
❤️ Have your kids create cards, notes, or poems for their grandparents. Download this week’s free printables for some easy ideas!
A personal thank you to the incredible grandparents in our community!
