Watch how it's done:
What's in your kit:
- 150 scratch notes
- 2 stylus pens
Before You Begin
- Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels or scrap paper to catch the scratch-off residue.
- Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
- Choose a clean, flat surface to work on.
- Pick the scratch paper you want to use for your design.
- Handle the scratch stylus carefully because the tip is sharp.
- Adult supervision is recommended for younger children.
Step 1: Choose Your Scratch Paper
- Open the package.
- Select the scratch paper you want to use.
- Decide whether you want to draw a picture, write a message, create patterns, or make your own design.
Step 2: Hold the Stylus
- Hold the scratch stylus the same way you would hold a pencil or pen.
- Keep the pointed tip facing down toward the paper.
- Use a comfortable grip so you can control your lines.
Step 3: Scratch Your Design
- Gently scratch the black surface with the stylus.
- Apply enough pressure to remove the top layer without tearing the paper.
- Watch the bright, colorful background appear underneath.
- Continue scratching to create pictures, words, shapes, or patterns.
Step 4: Try Different Scratch Effects
- Hold the stylus at different angles to create different types of lines.
- Experiment with lighter or firmer pressure.
- Use different strokes to make thin lines, thicker marks, textures, and patterns.
- If the stylus tip becomes dull, it can be sharpened carefully with a sharpener or sandpaper.
Step 5: Clean Away the Scratch Residue
- Occasionally hold the paper upright and gently tap it to remove loose scratch-off residue.
- You can also use a tissue to wipe away the excess.
- Clearing away the residue helps prevent smudges and keeps your hands and work area cleaner.
Step 6: Create More Designs
- Try using other safe tools such as chopsticks, a fork, a stick, or a small smooth stone to create different scratch effects.
- Do not use anything sharp enough to tear the paper.
- You can also cut the scratch paper with scissors to create different shapes.
- Keep experimenting with new pictures, patterns, messages, and designs.
