For many families, Independence Day traditions rival those of Easter, Thanksgiving, and even Christmas in their importance and nostalgia.
But just because this 4th of July won’t be filled with parades, neighborhood cookouts, and your usual vacation plans, doesn’t mean this year’s patriotic celebrations can’t still be a blast!
Here are some of the most creative and fun-filled ways we’ve rounded up for your family to spend their favorite summer holiday in 2020...
❤️ Plan a picnic basket swap with your friends or neighbors! Just like you would for past year cookouts, assign everyone a specific dish (like ribs, potato salad, or watermelon), but also include drop off times. Then, once everyone has their baskets, have a group video call to enjoy the deliciousness together!
️❤️ Virtually tour historic American landmarks like the Statue of Liberty or the Lincoln Memorial.
❤️ Have a patriotic or 4th of July themed movie night! Plenty of streaming services have movies like Independence Day, Sandlot, National Treasure, Captain America, and An American Tale.
❤️ Plan backyard activities like water balloon fights, sprinkler jumping, or - in true American fashion - toss around a baseball!
❤️ Get crafty with some patriotic projects or grab this week’s Free 4th of July Printables!
