Watch how it's done:

What's in your kit:

  • 1 Wooden Photo Frame (Fits 5 x 7 inch or 4 x 6 inch Photos)

  • 120 g of Assorted Mosaic Pieces

  • 1 Tube of White Glue

  • 1 Popsicle Stick for Applying Glue

Before You Begin

  • Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch drips and spills.
  • Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
  • Work on a clean, flat surface with plenty of space around you.
  • Handle the wooden photo frame carefully. It can chip or break if dropped.
  • Keep the frame away from the edge of the table so it cannot be bumped or knocked over.
  • Adult supervision is recommended because the kit contains small parts.
  • Do not ingest any of the materials.

Step 1: Plan Your Mosaic Design

  • Look through the mosaic pieces and decide how you want to decorate the frame.
  • You can create a pattern or place the mosaic pieces in your own design.
  • Arrange some pieces on the frame before gluing if you want to preview your design.

Step 2: Apply the Glue

  • Use the spreader stick to apply a thin layer of glue to a small section of the frame.
  • Work on an area no larger than about 1.5 inches or 4 cm square at a time.
  • Working in small sections helps keep the glue from drying before you add the mosaic pieces.

Step 3: Add the Mosaic Pieces

  • Gently place the mosaic pieces onto the area covered with glue.
  • Press each piece lightly into place.
  • Do not place mosaic pieces right up to the edge of the freshly spread glue.
  • Leave a little space so it is easier to apply glue to the next section.

Step 4: Continue Decorating

  • Apply another thin layer of glue to the next small section.
  • Add more mosaic pieces.
  • Continue working one section at a time until the entire frame is decorated.
  • If the glue dries while you are working, simply add another thin layer and continue.

Step 5: Let the Frame Dry

  • Place the finished frame on a flat surface where it will not be disturbed.
  • Let the glue dry completely before handling or displaying the frame.
  • Once dry, your mosaic frame is ready for your favorite photo.

Step 6: Add or Change the Photo

  • Turn the frame over.
  • Locate the small metal tabs holding the backing panel in place.
  • Carefully lift the tabs using the edge of a spoon or pliers.
  • Remove the backing panel.
  • If you are using a 4 x 6 inch photo, place the photo with the included mat.
  • Place the backing panel back into the frame.
  • Fold the metal tabs back down to secure the photo, mat, and backing in place.
  • If needed, tape the back of a 4 x 6 photo to the mat so it stays centered.

Step 7: Display Your Frame

  • Check that the backing and photo are secure.
  • Place your finished mosaic frame somewhere safe for display.
  • Your personalized Mosaic Frame Craft Kit is complete.
