Before You Begin

• Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch drips and spills.
• Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
• Work on a clean, flat surface with plenty of space around you.
• Handle the wooden jewelry box carefully. It can chip or break if dropped.
• Keep the jewelry box away from the edge of the table where it could be bumped or knocked over.
• Adult supervision is recommended.
• The kit contains small parts. Do not ingest any of the materials.
• Look through the gemstones and use the included grid template to plan your design before you start gluing. 

Step 1: Plan Your Design

• Use the included grid template to plan how you want your jewelry box to look.
• Use the different sections of the template to plan the top and sides of the box.
• Arrange your gemstone colors and patterns on the template before gluing anything onto the box.
• Try one of the suggested patterns or create your own design.
• Make any changes now so you are happy with the design before permanently attaching the gemstones. 

Step 2: Start with a Small Section

• Choose where you want to begin decorating.
• Use the spreader stick to apply a thin layer of glue to a small area of the jewelry box.
• Work on an area no larger than about 1.5 inches or 4 cm square at a time.
• Working in small sections helps prevent the glue from drying before you add the gemstones.
• If the glue dries before you finish a section, simply apply another thin layer.

Step 3: Add the Gemstones

• Gently place the gemstone pieces onto the area covered with glue.
• Follow the design you created on your grid template.
• Press each gemstone gently into place.
• Avoid placing gemstones all the way to the edge of the freshly spread glue. Leaving a little room makes it easier to add glue to the next section.
• Continue working in small sections until your design begins to cover the jewelry box. 

Step 4: Decorate the Entire Box

• Continue applying thin sections of glue and adding gemstones.
• Transfer your planned design from the template onto the jewelry box one section at a time.
• The instructions recommend decorating in this order:
  • Top
  • Front
  • Sides
  • Back
• Start from one corner and work across one row at a time to help keep your design neat and organized.
• Continue until the entire design is complete. 

Step 5: Let Your Jewelry Box Dry

• Once you are finished decorating, place the jewelry box on a flat surface where it will not be disturbed.
• Allow the glue to dry completely before moving or using the jewelry box.
• Once dry, your sparkly jewelry box is ready to hold your favorite jewelry and treasures.
