Before You Begin
- Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch any small pieces or scraps.
- Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
- Choose a clean, flat surface to work on.
- Keep the foam skirt form, princess form, petals, bamboo poking tool, holographic fabric, pleated trim, pearl-style decor strings, shimmer ribbon, adhesive dots, and double-sided tape nearby.
- Use the bamboo poking tool gently while crafting.
Step 1: Poke in the Petals
- Take the foam skirt form and bamboo poking tool.
- Choose a pink, purple, or white petal.
- Use the bamboo tool to gently poke the petal into the foam.
- Press each petal in until it feels secure, while leaving enough of the petal showing to make the skirt look bright and fluffy.
- Continue adding petals until the skirt is covered.
- Create stripes, swirls, colorful clusters, or your own pattern.
- Place the petals close together for a fuller look.
- If a petal pops out while you are working, simply poke it back in.
- Separate any petals that are stuck together so you use only one petal at a time.
Step 2: Decorate the Dress Top
- Take the princess form.
- Wrap the holographic fabric around the princess's upper body to create a shimmering dress top.
- Press the end of the fabric into the slit at the back using the bamboo poking tool to help hold it in place.
- Apply double-sided tape along the top edge of the dress.
- Attach the pearl-style decor string along the taped edge.
- Place the pleated trim along the bottom edge of the top.
- Layer the holographic fabric if you want to add more sparkle and texture.
- Press the fabric end into the slit at the back again to help secure it.
Step 3: Make the Bow
- Take the shimmer ribbon.
- Bring both ends toward the center to create two loops.
- Pinch the ribbon in the middle.
- Use an adhesive dot to hold the center of the bow together.
- Stick the bow onto the back of the dress.
- Place it near the princess's waist or anywhere else you like.
Step 4: Put Your Princess Together
- Take the decorated princess form.
- Carefully press it into the opening at the top of the foam skirt.
- Push gently until the princess and skirt fit together securely.
- Hold the skirt carefully so you do not pull out the petals.
- If any petals come loose, use the bamboo poking tool to press them back into place.
- Your 3D Princess Poke Art is now ready to display.
3D Unicorn Poke Art
Before You Begin
- Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch any small pieces or scraps.
- Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
- Choose a clean, flat surface to work on.
- Keep the foam unicorn, colored petals, silver pipe cleaners, and wooden poking tool nearby.
- Use the wooden poking tool gently while creating your unicorn.
Step 1: Decorate the Unicorn with Petals
- Take the foam unicorn and wooden poking tool.
- Choose a pink, purple, white, or yellow petal.
- Use the tool to gently poke the petal into the foam.
- Press the petal in until it feels secure while leaving enough showing so the unicorn looks full and fluffy.
- Continue adding petals until the unicorn's body is covered.
- Create stripes, swirls, colorful clusters, or your own pattern.
- Place the petals close together for a fuller look.
- Be gentle when holding areas that are already decorated.
- If a petal pops out, simply poke it back in.
- Separate petals that are stuck together so you use one petal at a time.
Step 2: Make the Unicorn Horn
- Take one silver pipe cleaner and the wooden poking tool.
- Place the pipe cleaner next to the poking tool.
- Measure about 1½ inches from one end and bend the pipe cleaner at that point.
- Pinch the folded section and twist it around the longer section of the pipe cleaner.
- Hold the folded section against the poking tool.
- Wrap the long end of the pipe cleaner around both the folded section and poking tool to create the horn shape.
- Trim any extra pipe cleaner at the tip if needed.
- Take a second pipe cleaner.
- Before wrapping it, leave a short piece sticking out at the bottom.
- Wrap the rest of the second pipe cleaner around the horn to make it thicker.
- Slide the wooden poking tool out carefully.
- Continue shaping the horn until it looks even.
- Twist the short bottom piece into a point.
- Press the pointed end into the top of the unicorn's head.
Tip: Twist slowly and adjust the shape as you go so the horn looks smooth and even.
Step 3: Make the First Ear
- Take one silver pipe cleaner.
- Measure about 2 inches (5 cm).
- Bend that section into a small leaf shape.
- Twist the bottom of the leaf shape so the ear stays together.
- Wrap the long end of the pipe cleaner around the ear once.
- Twist it again at the bottom to secure it.
- Fold the long end across the middle of the ear to help fill the center.
- Twist it at the bottom again.
- Leave the remaining long end sticking out because you will use it to attach the ear.
- Gently pinch the top of the ear into a point.
- Press the long pointed end into the unicorn's head beside the horn.
Step 4: Make the Second Ear
- Repeat the same process with another pipe cleaner.
- Shape it to match the first ear as closely as possible.
- Press it into the opposite side of the unicorn's head.
- Adjust both ears until they look even.
Step 5: Make the Tail
- Take 2 to 3 pipe cleaners.
- Cut them into slightly different lengths so the tail has a layered look.
- Bend each piece into a soft tail shape with curled ends.
- Line up the ends that will attach to the unicorn.
- Hold those ends together in a bundle.
- Wrap another pipe cleaner around the bundle to hold everything securely.
- Leave 2 to 3 short ends twisted together into one pointed piece so you can attach the tail to the foam.
- Press the pointed section into the back of the unicorn.
- Spread and shape the tail pieces until the tail looks full and flowing.
Tip: If needed, use the wooden poking tool to make a small hole before pressing the pipe-cleaner bundle into the foam.
Step 6: Make Final Adjustments
- Check that the horn, ears, and tail are securely attached.
- Adjust the petals if any areas look uneven.
- Poke loose petals back into place.
- Shape the horn, ears, and tail until you are happy with your unicorn.
- Your 3D Unicorn Poke Art is now ready to display.
