Free Printable: Summer Coloring Checklist "😎 Ways to Stay Safe in the Summer Heat 🌡️"

As much as we love the long days of sunshine, the summer heat that accompanies these months can bring us down!
It’s so important while enjoying the summer sun to also practice safety on those hot, sweaty days – especially with your kids and pets!
Here are some ways to keep your whole family safe in the summer heat...
😎 Try a trick from desert dwellers – when the air is dry and it feels cooler outside than inside, hang a damp sheet in your open window to cool the air coming into your house.
😎 Block the sun from getting into your house by pulling the shades closed. You know the blackout curtains that help your kids sleep... they’ll also keep their rooms cooler!
😎 Use your fans wisely! Face your fan so it’s blowing out the window at night to keep the room cooler. And if you have a ceiling fan, run it counter-clockwise in the summer (reverse it in the winter)!
😎 Stay hydrated – Drink lots of water, stock up on popsicles, and keep those reusable bottles refilled with plenty of ice and cold drinks! 🧊
😎 Don’t get too much sun – Wear sunscreen (at least 30 SPF), bring your floppy hats and baseball caps to outside, and find shade when it’s available. 👒
😎 Keep cool – Take advantage of air conditioning and fans when you can, splash around in the pool or sprinkler, and pull your (and your kiddo’s) long hair up into a top knot or braid. ❄️
😎 Watch for signs of heat stress or being overheated in your family – feeling dizzy, nauseous or lethargic and get out of the heat right away if you observe them.
😎 When you’re done with the heat, head inside, and grab our new summer mega-pack of 50 free summer-themed activity sheets for extra cool fun! We want to help you keep your kids busy on these sizzling days!
