Halloween week is FINALLY here, and our kids are THRILLED!! 🎃👻🦇🍬 

They’ve been planning their costumes and counting down the days for WEEKS now and it’s all we can do to keep them from sleeping in their superhero and princess attire! 🤣🤣🤣 

While they’re dreaming of sugar, as parents, we’re thinking of safety. I know – we're SUPER FUN! Isn’t being a grown up the best?!? 

And, while Halloween is an exciting holiday to be enjoyed as a family, it can also be a day prone to injury and mishaps! 

Thankfully, there are plenty of things we can do to be our family’s own superheroes on this SPOOKY holiday and to make sure this Halloween is the happiest – AND SAFEST – one yet! 

🎃 Before you head out the door, check that everyone’s costume is short enough to avoid tripping while walking and that they don’t have too many flowing layers billowing behind them. This is especially important when going to front doors with lots of stairs or pumpkins illuminated by real candles. 
🎃 Make sure cool costume accessories like swords and knives are soft and flexible. We don’t want anyone to trip and fall on something pointy while walking around the neighborhood collecting candy! 
🎃 Add reflective tape or glow in the dark necklaces to your kiddo’s attire (and yours!) to make sure you are visible while trick or treating. Let the grown-ups in the group carry flashlights. Also, make sure to stick to well-lit streets and houses!  
🎃 Always go up to doors in groups to collect your treats! And, if a house doesn’t have its outdoor lights on, it’s best to skip it and go to the next home instead.
